SR Database Administrator (POS-194)

Technical Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Over ten years of experience managing DB2 v8 and v9 databases in production environments based on UNIX/Linux.
  • Background in implementing and maintaining Business Intelligence and OLAP technologies, particularly using MicroStrategy (MSTR).
  • Solid experience working with DataMart and Data Warehouse architectures.
  • Certification in at least one major RDBMS technology, such as Oracle, DB2, or SQL Server.
  • At least five years of hands-on expertise in database architecture design, performance analysis and tuning, backup and restoration strategies, data migration tasks, scripting with shell for administrative automation, database software installation and version upgrades, and issue resolution.
  • Ability to oversee and manage database environments across all stages of the software development lifecycle, proactively resolving potential incidents.
  • Skilled in implementing security protocols, including user access management and data protection policies.
  • Proficient in assisting development teams with advanced SQL operations, optimization of DML statements, and development of stored procedures.
  • Minimum Upper Intermediate English (B2) or Proficient (C1).

 

Tasks And Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the administration, monitoring, and maintenance of DB2 databases within UNIX/Linux-based production settings.
  • Design and refine database schemas to efficiently support large-scale data operations.
  • Conduct ongoing performance evaluations to guarantee system availability and optimal processing times.
  • Plan and implement robust backup and recovery processes aligned with disaster recovery protocols.
  • Carry out data import and export operations while ensuring accuracy and data consistency.
  • Enforce database security policies, including user role definitions, permission settings, and activity auditing.
  • Partner with development teams to support advanced SQL development, enhance DML operations, and create stored procedures.
  • Identify and resolve database-related issues throughout the development and production lifecycle.
  • Handle installation, upgrades, and patch management for database platforms.
  • Automate routine administrative tasks using shell scripting.
  • Provide ongoing support for DataMart and Data Warehouse infrastructures, including integration with tools such as MicroStrategy.
