Technical Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of Quality Assurance experience, with a strong focus on data-driven applications, Power BI reporting solutions, and complex data validation.
  • Extensive hands-on experience testing Power BI solutions across Lakehouse and semantic model layers, including data relationships, measures, and DAX calculations.
  •  Advanced SQL skills for backend data validation, source-to-visual reconciliation, and verification of data transformations and pipelines.
  • Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, including test case design, acceptance criteria definition, defect lifecycle management, root cause analysis, and functional, regression, and UAT testing.
  • Practical experience working with Microsoft Fabric or Azure-based environments, including data migrations, pipeline validation, and environment parity assessments.
  • Solid understanding of Power BI Service, report UI validation, semantic models, and data relationship testing.
  • Experience working with Lakehouse architectures and using advanced Excel capabilities for data comparison and validation.
  • Proficiency with Jira, Azure DevOps, or comparable tools for test documentation and defect management.
  • Experience with UI test automation frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, or similar technologies is considered an advantage.
  • Familiarity with automated testing strategies for data integration pipelines and CI/CT practices is desirable.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted development or testing tools, such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot, for supporting data verification activities is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Azure security practices, data governance frameworks, or large-scale migrations to Microsoft Fabric is considered an advantage.
  • Minimum Upper Intermediate English (B2) or Proficient (C1).

 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Implement comprehensive QA approaches for data workflows, pipelines, and semantic models within Microsoft Fabric and Power BI environments.
  • Validate Lakehouse and semantic model layers to ensure data relationships, measures, and DAX calculations produce accurate results.
  • Perform end-to-end data reconciliation between backend sources and Power BI visualizations using advanced SQL queries to verify transformation accuracy.
  • Carry out front-end Power BI testing, ensuring report layouts, navigation flows, access permissions, and visual elements function consistently.
  • Translate user stories and business requirements into structured test cases with well-defined acceptance criteria.
  • Record, monitor, and validate defects throughout functional, regression, and UAT cycles, providing detailed reproduction steps, severity classifications, and supporting evidence.
  • Assess legacy reporting solutions against Microsoft Fabric implementations to confirm data consistency and functional equivalence.
  • Investigate data quality issues through root cause analysis and work collaboratively with Data Engineers and Developers to resolve identified bottlenecks.
