Technical Requirements:
- Hands-on experience in VMware administration at the N2 level.
- Proficiency in managing and maintaining VMware environments, with a focus on hypervisor installation and configuration.
- Familiarity with hardware configurations, including BIOS updates, server drivers, and iDRAC settings.
- Strong understanding of high availability (HA), Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), distributed switches, and vMotion.
- Experience with SAN storage configuration, including mounting, unmounting, and extending storage capacity.
- Ability to perform standard virtual machine (VM) management tasks, such as powering on/off, creating, cloning, and deleting VMs.
- Skilled in handling VM migrations, both vMotion and storage vMotion.
- Expertise in allocating resources to VMs, including vCPU, RAM, and disk space adjustments.
- Knowledge of configuring USB devices, mounting ISO files, and adding network devices to virtual machines.
- Competence in setting up independent disks, shared disks for database/app clusters, and RDM (Raw Device Mapping) disk configurations when applicable.
- Conduct virtual hardware upgrades within VMware environments.
- Monitor VM performance and availability through native hypervisor tools.
- Generate reports on resource utilization, including CPU, RAM, disk, and network usage, as required by service agreements.
- Set up alerts and thresholds for operational metrics through the VMware console.
- Collaborate with vendors and provide necessary support for hardware and software issues.
