Technical Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in leading end-to-end data migration projects from on-premise environments to Microsoft Azure.
- Strong background in data engineering and technical leadership within multidisciplinary teams.
- In-depth knowledge of relational databases such as SQL Server and PostgreSQL, as well as non-relational databases.
- Solid expertise in logical and physical data modeling for Data Warehousing.
- Advanced skills in ETL tools like SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Pentaho Data Integration (PDI).
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used for data transformation and ETL processes.
- Familiarity with basic system administration tasks in both Windows and Linux environments.
- Hands-on experience working in agile environments using tools like Jira or ClickUp.
- Exposure to AI-based practices for accelerating data processes.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Design and define scalable, secure, and cost-effective data architectures in Azure to support migrations from on-premise relational databases and data warehouses.
- Assess existing infrastructures and develop migration roadmaps, identifying dependencies, risks, and optimization opportunities.
- Define migration strategies aligned with business objectives and technical constraints.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams of data engineers, DBAs, and developers throughout migration projects.
- Mentor team members to enhance their technical capabilities and foster professional growth.
- Coordinate with technical and business stakeholders to align project expectations and deliverables.
- Establish best practices and cloud architecture standards for data solutions.
- Plan and execute medium- to large-scale data migrations ensuring minimal downtime.
- Implement data validation and rollback strategies to ensure migration integrity.
- Manage migrations from relational databases like SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL to Azure SQL, Azure SQL Managed Instance, or Azure Database.
- Lead the transition of on-premise data warehouses to Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Develop optimized ETL/ELT processes tailored for cloud architectures.
- Define and implement security, compliance, and governance policies for Azure-based data solutions.
- Optimize cost and performance of data systems post-migration.
- Design backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, particularly in the retail sector.
